A lot of change has taken place over the last 30 years as our country has become more ecologically and environmentally aware. Many of our ideas on landscape practices have had to change as well.

Not only has our perspective on the environment evolved, but the environment itself has changed. Weather extremes have intensified and occur more frequently. This has complicated both the areas of landscape installations and maintenance.

At Fernrock, we are in tune with these changes. We educate ourselves and then try to educate our customers.  New methods do not always appear at first to be the most convenient (or inexpensive) ones. For example, we sometimes use an IPM approach to insect and disease control, where we scout for evidence of insects or diseases rather than just routinely making calendar-based applications. (Look for a future Fernrock Blog on this subject or ask us for more information.) Unfortunately, we frequently see other “professionals” taking cheaper shortcuts. Some customers can also be pretty set in their established ways and choose to select these shortcuts as well. Our mission is to allow the customers to make the most educated decision possible within the constraints of their budget or interests.
