Reds and Ron worked together for more than 10 years before starting Fernrock Landscapes in February 2000. Ten years later, we still feel that it is important to be small enough to maintain good quality, while being skilled and diversified enough to provide a wide range of services. We are registered members of the Better Business Bureau.

One-Stop Shop

Versatility helps. Our staff has a wide range of technical skills ranging from complex tree surgery and diagnostic skills to a thorough knowledge of landscape design and the ability to provide follow-up maintenance on any of our ( or someone else’s) installations.

Our Technical Skills

All of our staff has extensive formal training in horticulture and arboriculture. We have all chosen this profession because we have a passion for what we do, which provides built-in motivation in our work.

Years of Job Experience

In addition to the formal training of our staff, we have a great many years of actual job experience. This gives us the broad picture needed to make judgments in complex landscape situations.

Reds Bailey, co-owner and president of Fernrock Landscapes has been working in the landscaping field for more than 30 years. He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Muhlenberg College and attended the New York Ranger School and Temple University’s horticulture and landscape design programs. A certified arborist and licensed tree surgeon, Reds is chairman of the Emmaus Shade Tree Commission and a member of the craft advisory board for the Horticulture Program at Lehigh Carbon Community College. He has been a Boy Scout leader and youth basketball coach. Gardening, basketball, camping, kayaking, XC skiing, artistic pruning of small trees and shrubs in the landscape, and bonsai are among his special interests.

Ron “Bundy” Billie, co-owner and secretary/treasurer of Fernrock Landscapes, holds an associate degree in Ornamental Nursery Management from Penn State University. He has been working in the field for more than 23 years and is certified to apply pesticides and herbicides. He and Reds worked with the former Southeast Regional IPM Research Group.
Technically, Ron’s specialties are installing hardscapes and scouting for beneficial as well as damaging insects. He is, however, our real “go to guy,” the person who operates all kinds of machinery or solves the enormous range of technical problems and repairs that come up regularly. When he gets the chance, he enjoys spending time with his kids, football, baseball, and coaching local youth teams.

Mike Kline joined us fulltime in 2006. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Ornamental Horticulture from Delaware Valley College with emphasis in Landscape Contracting and Management and a minor in Business. While in college, he was president of the Landscape Nursery Club for three years, a resident assistant for two years, and a member of the National Agricultural Honor Society. He helped build the college’s display at the Philadelphia Flower Show and helped run the college’s A-Day County Fair. Mike is currently President and 2nd Ass’t. Engineer of the Upper Milford Western District Fire Company. He enjoys working with horses in his spare time.

Matt Kuntzman started fulltime in 2007. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Ornamental Horticulture from Delaware Valley College where he was ass’t. vice president of the Landscape Nursery Club. His duties at Fernrock include scouting for and treatment of plant insect and disease issues as an Integrated Pest Management Monitor. Matt is a Youth Leader at Calvary Bible Fellowship Church. He enjoys running, the outdoors, and being with his family and friends.
